Wicked

Wicked (2024) is a musical fantasy from Universal Pictures — watch online on iFILM. Director Jon M. Chu (Crazy Rich Asians) adapts the Broadway phenomenon that ran for over two decades, casting Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and Ariana Grande as Glinda in a story set in the land of Oz long before Dorothy arrives.

Elphaba has been mocked for her green skin since childhood. At Shiz University she ends up rooming with Glinda — popular, polished, effortlessly admired — and the friction between them slowly turns into something more complicated. When the Wonderful Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum) invites them both to the Emerald City, the two friends find themselves on opposite sides of a divide neither expected. Michelle Yeoh plays the calculating Madame Morrible, Jonathan Bailey takes the role of the charming Fiyero, and Peter Dinklage voices Dr. Dillamond. The score was composed by John Powell; Alice Brooks handled cinematography; Paul Tazewell designed the costumes.

Shot on a $150 million budget, the film earned over $758 million worldwide and took home two Academy Awards at the 97th Oscars — Best Production Design and Best Costume Design — along with matching wins at the 2025 BAFTAs.
