Sun, a teenage girl, publishes a book her late grandfather told her: a wild boy named Hadara, orphaned by a desert storm, raised among ostriches and a clever desert fox. When a Saharan community invites her to visit after reading the story, she meets a nomad girl her own age and starts to wonder if Hadara ever existed. The film cuts between two timelines — the mythic past in open sand dunes and Sun's present-day journey — and shoots enough real desert to make the heat feel earned.
