Perfect Days

Perfect Days (2023) is Wim Wenders' quietly luminous drama you can watch online on iFILM. Koji Yakusho plays Hirayama, a Tokyo public toilet cleaner whose life follows a ritual so precise it could pass for contentment — or maybe it is contentment.

Every morning: a canned coffee, an old cassette (Lou Reed, Van Morrison, Patti Smith), the drive to work. After the shift: a secondhand paperback, a roll of black-and-white film to photograph the trees in the park. Hirayama tends maple seedlings on his windowsill. He doesn't talk much. A young coworker, a niece who shows up unannounced, a chance encounter with a dying stranger — each briefly breaks the surface of his routine without breaking him.
