Synopsis
"Amour" (2012) is a French-language drama you can watch online on iFILM, written and directed by Michael Haneke. It won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
Georges and Anne are retired Parisian music teachers in their eighties, married for decades. After a stroke leaves Anne partially paralyzed, Georges takes over her care — quietly, stubbornly, without asking for help. Jean-Louis Trintignant plays Georges with an almost suffocating stillness. Emmanuelle Riva's performance as Anne is the kind of acting that strips away every layer of pretense. Their daughter Eva, played by Isabelle Huppert, visits occasionally, watches, and cannot find the right words.
Haneke shoots in long takes, with very little music. The apartment feels smaller with each scene. This is not a film about illness; it's about what love demands when there's nothing left to protect. Stream "Amour" online on iFILM.
