Commissioner Pierre Niemans arrives at a remote Alpine university town to investigate a brutal, ritualistic killing. He works alone — that's how he prefers it. Meanwhile, young detective Max Kerkerian is called in to handle what looks like a minor case of grave desecration in a nearby village. Neither man knows the other exists. When their paths finally cross, the two very different investigators realise their separate cases are threads of the same dark pattern.
