Turner & Hooch

Turner takes the dog into custody to keep him alive, and immediately regrets it. Tom Hanks plays the escalating exasperation so well that some scenes play almost like physical comedy. What saves the film from being a pure gag reel is a real murder plot that actually goes somewhere — and a dynamic between man and dog that earns its sentimental moments without forcing them.
