Secret in Their Eyes

Secret in Their Eyes (2015) is a crime thriller directed by Billy Ray, available to watch online on iFILM. The film cuts constantly between two timelines — the original investigation and the present-day reopening — forcing the audience to watch both the original wound and what it has become. DA supervisor Claire (Kidman) is drawn back in too, and the long-unspoken feeling between her and Ray complicates everything.

Billy Ray based the script on Juan José Campanella's Oscar-winning Argentine film from 2009, keeping the dual-timeline structure and the cold case at its centre. The American version sharpens the political backdrop — post-9/11 FBI priorities — and arrives at a harder ending than most thrillers allow themselves.
