About

Synopsis

Where the Crawdads Sing (2022) — watch online the drama directed by Olivia Newman, starring Daisy Edgar-Jones. Adapted from Delia Owens's debut novel that sold over 12 million copies worldwide, the film is set in the marshlands of coastal North Carolina across several decades of the mid-20th century.

Kya Clark grew up alone in the wetlands after her family abandoned her one by one. No school, no neighbors — just the tides, the birds, and eventually a boy named Tate (Taylor John Smith) who teaches her to read. Years later, a second man, the local golden boy Chase (Harris Dickinson), enters her life with different intentions. When Chase is found dead beneath a fire-watch tower, the town's long-held suspicion of the so-called "marsh girl" becomes a murder charge. David Strathairn plays her defense attorney.

The film runs two timelines in parallel — the trial in the 1960s and the years leading up to it — letting the mystery build without tipping its hand. Olivia Newman keeps the pacing deliberate, trusting the landscape as much as the cast. Whether Kya is guilty is a question the film holds until the very end.
