The Lincoln Lawyer

The Lincoln Lawyer (2011) is Brad Furman's crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Los Angeles defense attorney Mick Haller runs his whole practice from the back seat of a Lincoln Continental, driving from one courthouse to the next.

Haller works small-time crooks and isn't above cutting corners, until a dream case lands in his lap: wealthy playboy Louis Roulet, charged with attacking a woman. The fee is huge, the evidence looks shaky, an acquittal seems almost routine. But the closer Haller gets to the truth, the clearer it becomes that his client is lying, and the case starts to echo an old loss he never managed to shake off. Soon the trap is closing around the lawyer himself.

This was one of the roles that kicked off Matthew McConaughey's turn toward heavier dramatic work. The script comes from Michael Connelly's novel, the same author whose books later grew into a hit streaming series. Marisa Tomei, William H. Macy, Ryan Phillippe and Bryan Cranston fill out the cast.
