Synopsis
Queer (2024) — watch online on iFILM: Luca Guadagnino's drama starring Daniel Craig as William Lee, a drifting American expat in 1950s Mexico City. The screenplay by Justin Kuritzkes adapts William S. Burroughs' semi-autobiographical novella. 138 minutes, produced by Fremantle and Frenesy Film.
William is in his late forties. The days blur together — the same dive bars, the same small circle of American expats, the same glass of gin. Then Eugene Allerton (Drew Starkey) walks in: a young student who barely notices William and draws him in precisely because of that. William follows him across Latin America. Joe Guidry (Jason Schwartzman) and Doctor Cotter (Lesley Manville) pass through, but no one can reach him.
Guadagnino made this right after Challengers — again about desire as a kind of sickness. The film premiered at Venice 2024 and played the New York Film Festival. Craig is nothing like Bond here: raw, exposed, cracked open. Stream Queer (2024) online on iFILM.
