Thirteen-year-old Alpha (Mélissa Boros) comes home one day with a fresh tattoo. Her mother, a doctor played by Golshifteh Farahani, immediately suspects the worst: in this near-future world, the mark on her daughter's arm could mean she's been exposed. Alpha becomes a pariah at school. Her mother runs on fear and clinical routine. Tahar Rahim plays Amin; Emma Mackey appears as a nurse.
