Synopsis
The Fourth Kind (2009) is a sci-fi horror thriller directed by Olatunde Osunsamni that you can watch online on iFILM. In the Alaskan town of Nome, psychiatrist Dr. Abigail Tyler (Milla Jovovich) starts noticing a pattern in her patients' sleep disturbances — every one of them describes a white owl perched outside the window. Under hypnosis, the sessions turn violent and unintelligible, and some patients vanish entirely. Dozens of disappearances in the area have gone unsolved for decades despite FBI involvement.
The film layers dramatised scenes starring Jovovich against supposed archival footage and audio recordings of the actual therapy sessions, blurring the line between fiction and claimed documentary evidence. Sheriff August (Will Patten) is dismissive; fellow researcher Dr. Abel Campos (Elias Koteas) is not so sure. Shot in Belgium and the United States, the movie belongs to a tradition of found-footage and mock-doc horror that was peaking in the late 2000s. Stream The Fourth Kind online on iFILM.
