Synopsis
The Legend of Hei (罗小黑战记, 2019) — watch online on iFILM. This Chinese animated fantasy film by indie creator MTJJ grew out of a beloved web series with a massive fanbase across East Asia. The theatrical cut runs 101 minutes and reached international screens in 2021, earning around $48 million at the box office.
A small cat spirit named Luo Xiaohei loses his forest home to human expansion and ends up wandering without shelter. He falls in with a group of spirits who have their own plans for taking back the land. Then a human with unusual power, Wuxian, enters the picture — pulling Hei in a different direction entirely. Sided with the spirits or the humans? Hei has to figure that out while learning what he can actually do.
