Aquamarine

Aquamarine (2006) is a fantasy comedy from director Elizabeth Allen — watch it online on iFILM. Best friends Claire and Hailey, played by Emma Roberts and JoJo, are counting down the days before Hailey's family moves halfway around the world. Then a summer storm deposits a mermaid named Aquamarine into the pool of their beach club, and suddenly they have bigger things to deal with.

Aquamarine, played by Sara Paxton, escaped an arranged marriage back in the ocean and needs to prove to her father that human love is real — within three days. In exchange, she'll grant the girls one wish. Their plan: set Aquamarine up with the local lifeguard Raymond, played by Jake McDorman. It does not go smoothly. What any of them actually want turns out to be a different question entirely.

The film adapts Alice Hoffman's novel of the same name and pitches itself squarely at a teenage audience, with a light touch and a genuinely warm ending. Emma Roberts's film debut. Stream Aquamarine (2006) online on iFILM.
