Searching

Searching (2018) is a mystery thriller you can watch online on iFILM. David Kim's sixteen-year-old daughter Margot vanishes. The police open a case, but thirty-seven hours pass without a single lead.

So her father does what the detectives never thought to: he opens her laptop. Messages, likes, livestreams, forgotten accounts — David digs through her digital trail and realizes how little he knew his own kid. The deeper he goes, the less he trusts anyone, including the detective assigned to find her. John Cho carries the whole film, with Debra Messing as Detective Rosemary Vick.

The hook is the format: the entire story plays out across screens, from his computer monitor to phone cameras to TV news feeds. This was Aneesh Chaganty's directing debut, and the gimmick isn't there to show off — it keeps you guessing right up to the end.
