Synopsis
The Legend of the Blue Sea (푸른 바다의 전설, 2016) is a South Korean fantasy romance you can watch online on iFILM. Jun Ji-hyun and Lee Min-ho lead one of the most-anticipated pairings of the 2016–17 Korean television season. The story moves between two timelines — the Joseon dynasty and present-day Seoul — linked by a love that refuses to stay in the past.
Sim Cheong is a mermaid who surfaces in modern Seoul with no language, no documents and no idea how traffic lights work. Heo Joon-jae (Lee Min-ho) is a con artist who reads people for a living and uses hypnosis to close his schemes. Getting involved with a woman who can breathe underwater is not in his plan. Several centuries earlier, a Joseon official and a sea creature were pulled together by the same invisible thread. Director Jin Hyuk shot on location in Spain and across South Korea, giving the series a scope that sets it apart from the average studio-bound drama.
