Synopsis
Mr. Sunshine (미스터 션샤인, 2018) is a Korean historical drama you can watch online on iFILM. Director Lee Eung-bok and screenwriter Kim Eun-sook — the same pair behind Descendants of the Sun — set the story at the turn of the twentieth century, when Korea stood at the edge of Japanese annexation.
Eugene Choi was born a serf's son and escaped Korea as a child. He returned decades later as a United States Marine Corps officer, carrying a foreign flag back to the land that discarded him. In Seoul he meets Go Ae-shin, a noblewoman who hides a rifle under her hanbok and fights for the country's independence in the shadows. Lee Byung-hun and Kim Tae-ri carry a romance where every personal choice doubles as a political one, and the tagline — "Guns. Glory. Sad endings." — turns out to be a promise, not a tease.
