Amanda admits flatly that she feels nothing at all and has trained herself to fake emotions from a mental checklist. Lily lives in a spotless mansion with a stepfather she quietly despises. The girls reconnect after years apart, and out of their conversations a plan to commit murder slowly takes shape. For the job they recruit Tim, a small-time drug dealer. Olivia Cooke and Anya Taylor-Joy play the pair on a knife-edge between teenage friendship and sociopathy, while Anton Yelchin, as Tim, gives his final screen performance.

Finley, who came from theater, directs his debut like a chamber play: long takes, the oppressive hush of the house, a steady metronome on the soundtrack instead of cheap tension. There's almost no on-screen blood, the dread lives in how calmly these two discuss the unthinkable. If dry, sardonic, faintly twisted films about privilege are your taste, this is a rare find.
