Philadelphia

Philadelphia (1993) is a courtroom drama directed by Jonathan Demme — watch it online on iFILM. Antonio Banderas brings weight to the role of Beckett's partner Miguel, anchoring the human story behind the legal fight. At 126 minutes the film never loses its grip.

Screenwriter Ron Nyswaner put the AIDS crisis and discrimination against LGBTQ people front and center at a time when Hollywood mostly looked away. Hanks took the Academy Award for Best Actor.
