Synopsis
Happiest Season (2020) is a holiday romance with a comic edge, and you can watch online on iFILM. Abby plans to propose to her girlfriend Harper at the family Christmas party, then learns Harper still hasn't told her conservative parents she's gay.
Kristen Stewart plays Abby, forced to pose as Harper's "orphaned roommate" inside a household built on appearances. Harper (Mackenzie Davis) is running interference: her father is campaigning for mayor, her mother polices the perfect image, and her sisters fight for the spotlight. The lies pile up while Abby swallows one awkward dinner after another. Dan Levy is sharp as her best friend John, and Aubrey Plaza turns up as Harper's ex to complicate things further. Mary Steenburgen and Victor Garber round out the family.
Director Clea DuVall made a rare festive movie with a real subject under the tinsel: the cost of staying closeted and the fear of coming out to your own family. Warm, cringey and occasionally raw.
