Alan Rickman plays the villain with such venomous glee that he steals every scene he enters.

The film grossed over $390 million worldwide and became one of the highest-earning releases of 1991. Rickman took the BAFTA for Best Supporting Actor, and Bryan Adams's ballad "Everything I Do (I Do It for You)" sat at number one in the UK for eighteen consecutive weeks.
