Synopsis
Malcolm & Marie (2021) is a black-and-white two-hander drama written and directed by Sam Levinson — watch it online on iFILM. A filmmaker rides home from his movie premiere on a wave of euphoria; his girlfriend Marie sits beside him, quietly furious about something he doesn't realize he's done.
John David Washington and Zendaya fight it out across a single night in a rented mansion, with no other cast and almost no props. Malcolm defends his art, dissects his critics, and talks so much about himself that the real wound slowly surfaces: he never thanked Marie in his speech, despite the fact that her darkest experiences are all over his film. The arguments reset, restart, and cut deeper each time.
