About

Synopsis

Arachnophobia (1990) is a horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Frank Marshall — longtime Spielberg producer making his debut behind the camera. Jeff Daniels plays a doctor with a crippling fear of spiders who moves his family to a small California town at exactly the wrong moment. John Goodman shows up as a drawling, mustached exterminator. Julian Sands plays the entomologist who started this whole mess in Venezuela.

A deadly South American spider hitches a ride to Canaima inside a shipping crate and immediately finds a local partner. The offspring are fast, venomous, and spreading through the town's homes before anyone understands what's happening. Patients start dying on the new doctor's watch; the town trusts the old doctor more; and the man with the phobia has to eventually face what's nesting in his own house. Marshall calibrates the tone exactly right — genuinely creepy setpieces paired with Goodman's deadpan comedy, neither side swallowing the other. Stream Arachnophobia (1990) online on iFILM.
