Batman Returns (1992) — watch online on iFILM: Tim Burton's darker, stranger follow-up to his 1989 hit, produced by Warner Bros. Michael Keaton is back as Bruce Wayne, now facing two villains at once — Danny DeVito's grotesque Penguin rising from Gotham's sewers, and Michelle Pfeiffer's electric, unhinged Catwoman.

It's Christmas in Gotham. Oswald Cobblepot, abandoned by his wealthy parents as an infant, surfaces with a plan to run for mayor — backed by corrupt industrialist Max Shreck, played by Christopher Walken. Meanwhile, Shreck's mousy secretary Selina Kyle survives being pushed out a window and snaps into something far more dangerous. The Penguin and Shreck want Batman gone. Catwoman has her own agenda.

Burton pushed the superhero genre toward gothic noir, and the result split critics in 1992 but built a massive cult following over the decades. DeVito and Pfeiffer remain two of the most memorable villain performances in comic-book cinema. Stream Batman Returns online on iFILM.
