Cosmopolis

Cosmopolis (2012) is David Cronenberg's chilly drama, and you can watch online on iFILM. The whole thing unfolds across a single day as 28-year-old billionaire Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) crawls across a riot-choked Manhattan in a white stretch limo, all to get a haircut.

The ride becomes a slow-motion collapse. Outside, protesters swarm the streets; inside, a bad bet on the yuan dismantles Packer's fortune in real time. Advisers, a doctor, a lover and his head of security cycle through the limo one by one, trading cold talk about money, the body, time and death. Juliette Binoche, Sarah Gadon, Paul Giamatti and Mathieu Amalric drift through the procession.

Adapted from Don DeLillo's novel, the film keeps his clipped, deadpan dialogue almost word for word. It is deliberately artificial and emotionally frozen, the kind of movie people either lock into or bail on within ten minutes.
