Synopsis
Beauty and the Beast (1991) is a Walt Disney Pictures animated musical you can watch online on iFILM. Directors Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise adapted the French fairy tale into an 84-minute feature built around Alan Menken's orchestral score — the same score that won him an Oscar.
Belle (voiced by Paige O'Hara) is stuck in a small French village where Gaston (Richard White) has already decided she belongs to him. A wrong turn through an enchanted forest lands her father in the Beast's castle, and Belle trades her freedom to get him out. The Beast (Robby Benson) is all fury on the outside; the enchanted household — candlestick Lumiere (Jerry Orbach), clock Cogsworth (David Ogden Stiers), teapot Mrs. Potts (Angela Lansbury) — gently bets on something changing.
