Synopsis
Crash (2005) is Paul Haggis's ensemble drama you can watch online on iFILM. Shot for $6.5 million and written by Haggis alongside Bobby Moresco, the film weaves together strangers across thirty-six hours in Los Angeles — a detective played by Don Cheadle, a district attorney's wife (Sandra Bullock), a Persian shopkeeper, two patrolmen including Matt Dillon's Officer Ryan, a pair of carjackers, and a filmmaker couple played by Terrence Howard and Thandiwe Newton.
Each character holds prejudices they believe are rational. Then one encounter knocks everything sideways. The cop who humiliates a woman one night risks his life to pull her from a burning wreck the next morning. The carjacker who lectures his partner about stereotypes turns out to be just as blind. Haggis traces how fear short-circuits every calculation people make about each other.
At the 2006 Academy Awards the film won three Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Original Screenplay — a result that still sparks debate. Some critics praised it as a necessary gut-punch; others called the coincidences too neat. Either way, the argument has kept people talking for two decades. Stream Crash (2005) online on iFILM.
