The Protector

The Protector (ต้มยำกุ้ง, 2005) is a Thai action film directed by Prachya Pinkaew — watch it online on iFILM. Produced by Sahamongkolfilm, the movie turned Tony Jaa into an international martial arts star on the strength of pure physical performance.

Village fighter Kham travels from Thailand to Sydney after his family's sacred elephant is stolen and shipped into an Australian criminal underworld run by Madame Rose (Jin Xing). Her crew includes a capoeira specialist (Lateef Crowder), a wushu fighter, and the towering enforcer T.K. (Nathan Jones) — each fight staged as a distinct style match-up against Kham's Muay Thai. Jaa performed without wire work or stunt doubles, and the film's unbroken four-minute staircase sequence through a restaurant became a benchmark for single-take action choreography.
