Synopsis

Loving Vincent (2017) is a hand-painted drama by Dorota and Hugh Welchman you can watch online on iFILM. It is the first feature film made entirely from oil paintings, with every frame rendered as a canvas in the artist's own style.

A year after Vincent van Gogh's death, young Armand Roulin sets out to deliver the painter's last letter. The man it was meant for is gone too, so Armand starts questioning the people who knew Vincent in his final weeks: a boatman, Doctor Gachet's daughter, the innkeeper. Their stories don't line up. Accident, illness, or something darker? Douglas Booth, Saoirse Ronan, Chris O'Dowd and Helen McCrory lend their voices, while the characters' faces are lifted straight from Van Gogh's portraits.

More than a hundred painters hand-produced roughly 65,000 frames on top of footage shot with live actors. The film earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature and won a European Film Award. It is a rare biography told through the brushstrokes of its own subject.
