Synopsis
Dan in Real Life (2007) is Peter Hedges' gentle comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Dan Burns writes a widely read newspaper advice column, dispensing wisdom on family and love. His own life is messier: a widower raising three daughters by himself.
He arrives worn down at his parents' annual family gathering. At a nearby bookshop he strikes up a conversation with a woman named Marie, and over a couple of hours something real flickers between them. Then comes the gut-punch — she's the new girlfriend his younger brother has brought home to introduce to everyone. Four days under one roof follow, with Dan forced to keep a straight face. Steve Carell and Juliette Binoche carry the awkward dance, surrounded by Dianne Wiest, John Mahoney and a young Emily Blunt.
