Ju-on: The Grudge

Ju-on: The Grudge (呪怨, 2002) is a Japanese horror film directed by Takashi Shimizu — watch it online on iFILM. Produced by Nikkatsu Corporation, the movie grew from Shimizu's earlier V-Cinema shorts into a full theatrical release that put a single Tokyo house at the centre of J-horror.

Social worker Rika (Megumi Okina) visits a bedridden elderly woman and stumbles into something that has been waiting inside those walls for years. Kayako (Takako Fuji) and her son Toshio were killed there — and the rage they left behind attaches to anyone who crosses the threshold. Shimizu cuts between timelines rather than moving forward in a straight line, letting the dread stack up from multiple angles before any of it resolves.
