All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) is Edward Berger's war drama, available to watch online on iFILM. This German-language film reworks Erich Maria Remarque's novel into a brutal portrait of life and death in the trenches of the First World War.

Paul Baumer is seventeen when he forges a signature to enlist alongside his classmates. The boys arrive believing in glory and country. That belief dies fast. Mud, shellfire, gas, the first hand-to-hand kill — Felix Kammerer plays Paul so that terror reads in his eyes long before he speaks. While the soldiers bleed for a few metres of churned ground, diplomats stall over armistice terms in warm rooms far from the front.

The film took four Academy Awards, among them Best International Feature and James Friend's cinematography. Daniel Bruhl appears in a supporting role. With its cold palette, crushing sound design and a closing blow that lands hard, this is one of the most powerful anti-war films in recent memory.
