About

Synopsis

Friday the 13th (1980) is the classic horror film by Sean S. Cunningham you can watch online on iFILM. Camp Crystal Lake is reopening, and nobody wants to dwell on the boy who drowned there years ago.

A group of young counselors arrives a week early to fix the place up: painting cabins, clearing the beach, flirting, drinking by the fire. A local old-timer warns them the camp is cursed, and of course no one listens. Then they start dying one at a time — quietly, in the rain, in the dark — with the killer kept just out of frame. A very young Kevin Bacon appears in one of his earliest roles. The camera prowls from the attacker's point of view and guards their identity right up to the final reel.

Cunningham built the movie as a low-budget answer to the success of Halloween, with gore and kills staged by makeup artist Tom Savini. It launched a sprawling franchise and became a blueprint for the slasher: the summer camp, the teenagers, the body count. Stream Friday the 13th (1980) online on iFILM.
