Synopsis

Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) — watch online on iFILM this DreamWorks Animation adventure directed by Kelly Asbury and Lorna Cook. Matt Damon voices Spirit; James Cromwell plays The Colonel. Running 83 minutes on an $80 million budget.

Spirit is a wild mustang who leads his herd across the open plains until a U.S. cavalry patrol captures him. The Colonel intends to break him for military use. Spirit refuses every time. A young Lakota rider named Little Creek frees him, and the two cross sun-scorched canyons and snowbound passes on the way back to the herd. The horses never speak a word — all the emotion comes through movement, ears, and eyes. It's a deliberate choice that keeps the film grounded in something real.

Hans Zimmer scored the film and Bryan Adams wrote the vocal tracks; the picture earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Animated Feature in 2003. Stream Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002) in full on iFILM.
