The Smurfs

The Smurfs (2011) is Raja Gosnell's family comedy based on Peyo's comics, and you can watch it online on iFILM. The wicked wizard Gargamel (Hank Azaria) drives the little blue folk out of their mushroom village, and a handful of Smurfs fall through a magic portal straight into New York's Central Park.

Three apples tall and lost in a giant city, the Smurfs hide out in the apartment of a young couple, ad man Patrick (Neil Patrick Harris) and his pregnant wife Grace (Jayma Mays). Papa Smurf, Smurfette, Clumsy and Grouchy scramble to find a way home while Gargamel and his cat Azrael stalk them through the streets, desperate to squeeze the source of his magic out of them. Katy Perry voices Smurfette, and this was one of the last roles for Jonathan Winters, who voiced Papa Smurf.

The film blends live actors with CGI animation, drops the classic 1958 Belgian comic into a modern metropolis, and is built squarely for the youngest viewers. Stream The Smurfs (2011) online on iFILM.
