Synopsis

Lost in Translation (2003) — watch online this Sofia Coppola drama on iFILM. Bill Murray plays Bob Harris, an American actor marooned in Tokyo to shoot a whisky commercial: the fee is generous, the rest of his life is not. Across the lobby he meets Charlotte, played by Scarlett Johansson — a young philosophy graduate trailing her photographer husband and filling the hours alone in an enormous foreign city.

They drift together through late-night karaoke bars, hospital waiting rooms and a rooftop swimming pool lit by the neon glow of Shinjuku. Nobody explains what their connection is. The film doesn't bother to label it either. Giovanni Ribisi plays Charlotte's distracted husband; Anna Faris appears as a cheerfully oblivious Hollywood starlet who briefly invades their world.

Shot on a $4 million budget, the film grossed over $119 million worldwide and earned Sofia Coppola the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2004 — the first American woman to win that category solo. Stream Lost in Translation (2003) online on iFILM.
