Synopsis

U.S. Marshals (1998) is Stuart Baird's action thriller sequel — watch it online on iFILM. Marshal Sam Gerard (Tommy Lee Jones) is escorting a prisoner transport flight from Chicago when the plane goes down in a spectacular crash. One convict walks away from the wreckage: Mark Sheridan, played by Wesley Snipes, a man whose file says he murdered two government agents.

Gerard picks up the chase. But this time he's been assigned a partner — Diplomatic Security Agent Royce, played by Robert Downey Jr. — who clearly isn't there just to help. As the pursuit crosses state lines and doubles back through Chicago and New Jersey, it becomes obvious that somebody powerful wants Sheridan dead before a federal marshal can bring him in.

Jones reprises the relentless Gerard from The Fugitive and carries the film on pure procedural momentum. Joe Pantoliano returns from the first film as well. The screenplay opens up from a straight manhunt into something closer to a conspiracy thriller, with Snipes playing a man who may be guilty of exactly what he's accused of — or may not.
