Synopsis

The Princess Diaries (2001) is a Walt Disney Pictures family comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Garry Marshall adapted Meg Cabot's novel about Mia Thermopolis — a fifteen-year-old San Francisco teen, socially invisible, perpetually frizzy-haired — who learns that her recently deceased father was the crown prince of a small European monarchy called Genovia. That makes Mia next in line.

Queen Clarisse Renaldi (Julie Andrews) flies in from Genovia to break the news and immediately starts an emergency crash course: posture, etiquette, public speaking, and how to walk in heels without tripping over cobblestones. Anne Hathaway's screen debut as Mia is the film's engine — she plays the character's reluctance as something genuine rather than a plot device. Heather Matarazzo is Lilly, the best friend who refuses to be impressed by any of it, and Sandra Oh appears as the vice principal who suspects something is going on.

The film runs 115 minutes and mixes coming-of-age warmth with light royal comedy. Stream The Princess Diaries (2001) online on iFILM.
