About

Synopsis

Eddie the Eagle (2016) is a British-American sports comedy-drama you can watch online on iFILM. It tells the true story of Michael "Eddie" Edwards — an ordinary English plasterer who turned up at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics as Great Britain's first ever Olympic ski jumper and finished dead last in both events. The crowd loved him anyway.

Taron Egerton plays Eddie: thick glasses, borrowed equipment, no natural talent, and absolutely no quit. Hugh Jackman is Bronson Peary, a washed-up former jumper who reluctantly takes Eddie on as a coach after spotting something stubborn in the man. Director Dexter Fletcher keeps the tone warm without softening the absurdity — this is a story about someone who redefines what it means to win just by showing up. Christopher Walken has a smaller but memorable role as a benefactor with history.

The film runs 105 minutes and leans on Egerton's physical performance and genuine chemistry with Jackman. The tagline — "Win or lose, always aim high" — is barely an exaggeration. Stream Eddie the Eagle (2016) on iFILM.
