Synopsis
Enter the Void (2010) is Gaspar Noé's hallucinatory feature shot entirely in first person — watch it online on iFILM. Oscar is a young American dealing drugs in neon-lit Tokyo. He is killed in a police raid within the first twenty minutes. The camera does not cut away. It rises through the ceiling and keeps moving.
Oscar promised his sister Linda (Paz de la Huerta) he would never leave her. His spirit holds to that promise, drifting above the rooftops and passing through the walls of love hotels, watching the living make their choices. The film loops back through childhood memories — their parents, the car crash — and keeps returning to the present, where Linda is dancing in a strip club and the people around her are coming apart.
Noé spent three years shooting in Tokyo and drew on the Tibetan Book of the Dead for the film's structure. At 161 minutes it is deliberately exhausting, visually overwhelming and unlike anything else in European cinema of the 2000s. Stream Enter the Void (2010) on iFILM.
