Run Lola Run

Run Lola Run (Lola rennt, 1998) is Tom Tykwer's cult German thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Lola has twenty minutes to save the man she loves. The clock starts on a phone call.

Manni runs cash for a Berlin gangster, and he just left a bag holding 100,000 marks on a subway train. In twenty minutes he hands the money to his boss, or he's dead. Over the phone he tells Lola he'll rob a supermarket to cover it. She drops the receiver and runs. The film then plays her sprint across the city three separate times, and a tiny shift at the start — a second's delay, a stranger's glance, a dog barking on the stairs — sends each run toward a wholly different ending for Lola, for Manni, for everyone they pass.

Franka Potente became a face of nineties German cinema in the role, and Tykwer stitched the film together from animation, a restless camera, and a techno score he wrote himself.
