Synopsis
August: Osage County (2013) — watch online the family drama directed by John Wells, adapted from Tracy Letts' Pulitzer Prize-winning Broadway play. Oklahoma in August. Three grown daughters converge on their childhood home after their father goes missing from the family's flat, sun-blasted property.
Their mother Violet is sick, medicated, and armed with a tongue that draws blood. Meryl Streep plays her as a woman who has spent decades cataloguing everyone's failures and is finally ready to read the list aloud. Julia Roberts fires back as the eldest daughter Barbara. Ewan McGregor, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Margot Martindale fill out a table where no one gets out undamaged. The dinner scenes alone are worth the runtime.
