Stronger

Stronger (2017) is a drama directed by David Gordon Green — watch it online on iFILM. Jeff Bauman went to the finish line of the Boston Marathon in April 2013 to see his girlfriend cross — and was standing close enough to the blast to lose both legs.

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Bauman not as an icon but as a guy who drinks too much, dodges his physical therapist, and keeps letting people down. Tatiana Maslany matches him scene for scene as his girlfriend Erin, who has to carry both of them while cameras follow everywhere. Miranda Richardson plays Jeff's mother — loving in her way, but somehow always making things harder. Director Green keeps the film in the neighbourhood, among blue-collar Boston families where public praise and private chaos live in the same room.
