Tim Roth plays Dr. Cal Lightman, a deception researcher who can clock a lie from a half-second facial flicker before the speaker's mouth has finished forming the words.

Lightman runs a private consultancy that takes cases the usual forensic tools can't crack. Federal agencies, corporate clients, the military — they all bring their hard problems to him. His partner Dr. Gillian Foster (Kelli Williams) handles the human side of interviews; natural "natural" lie-detector Ria Torres (Monica Raymund) reads people on instinct alone; analyst Eli Loker (Brendan Hines) takes radical honesty so far it becomes its own weapon. The catch: a man who sees every micro-expression around him has a hard time sustaining any relationship of his own.
