Airplane II: The Sequel

Airplane II: The Sequel (1982) is a spoof comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Ken Finkleman directs this follow-up to the landmark Airplane!, bringing back most of the original cast and the same firehose of deadpan, gag-a-second nonsense.

This time the action moves into space. The first commercial shuttle to the Moon is ready for takeoff when its onboard computer loses its mind and aims the ship straight at the sun. Saving everyone falls, once again, to ex-pilot Ted Striker (Robert Hays), who's also busy trying to fix things with his on-and-off girlfriend Elaine (Julie Hagerty). The big new addition is William Shatner as the unflappable lunar base commander, gleefully sending up his own Star Trek persona.

The humor runs on the same engine as the first film: a dozen jokes a minute, idioms taken literally, and actors playing the most ridiculous situations with a completely straight face.
