Adrift

Adrift (2018) is a survival drama you can watch online on iFILM. It draws on what Tami Oldham lived through in the Pacific back in 1983: a young couple agrees to sail a yacht from Tahiti, and partway across they run headlong into a monster storm.

Tami (Shailene Woodley) and her fiance Richard (Sam Claflin) meet around the tropical docks and take a job delivering someone else's boat halfway across an ocean. When Hurricane Raymond hits, the vessel is wrecked, Richard is badly hurt, and the navigation gear is dead. What follows is weeks on open water, Tami patching torn sails alone, rationing supplies and steering by the stars toward Hawaii. The film cuts between that drift and the calm days before the wreck.

Director Baltasar Kormakur, who keeps returning to people pitted against nature, shapes it from the memoir Tami Oldham Ashcraft wrote herself; she even turns up briefly on screen. Watch Adrift (2018) online on iFILM.
