Beast

Beast (2022) is a survival thriller you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Idris Elba. Running 93 minutes, it strips the genre down to one doctor, two daughters, and a lion that has stopped behaving like prey.

Dr. Nate Daniels brings his teenage girls to a South African game reserve managed by family friend Martin Battles (Sharlto Copley). It was supposed to be a healing trip after the death of their mother. Then a lone male lion — scarred from surviving a poacher attack, cut off from his pride — starts targeting humans on its territory. Not out of hunger. Out of something that looks disturbingly like intent. When the family is stranded far from camp, every choice narrows the window.

Kormákur shoots several sequences in near-unbroken long takes, keeping the camera in the grass with the characters rather than cutting to safety. Elba carries the physical and emotional weight of the film without leaning on the script for help — much of what works is posture, breath, and a face deciding whether to run or stand.
