Synopsis
Balto (1995) — watch online on iFILM this animated family adventure from director Simon Wells, produced by Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment. Kevin Bacon voices the title character, with Bob Hoskins as Boris the snow goose. The film is built around a real dogsled relay that crossed Alaska in January 1925.
Balto is half-wolf, half-husky, and completely unwanted in Nome. When diphtheria reaches the town's children and a blizzard shuts every road, the only option is a 600-mile medicine run by dogsled. The lead team loses its way in the storm. Balto — the outcast, the mutt nobody believed in — sets out to find them.
Composer James Horner wrote the score, and the film arrived in cinemas in December 1995. The real Balto was honored with a bronze statue in New York's Central Park that still stands today. Stream Balto (1995) on iFILM.
